The Krist Samaritan Center began its ministry in 1986 sponsored by three Clear Lake churches who wanted to begin a faith-based counseling center. The Center now has 70 supporting churches in 18 office locations in the greater Houston-Galveston area.
The Krist Samaritan Center has a renowned training program for clergy and mental health professionals. More than 150 people have graduated from the program and serve in churches and counseling centers around the world.
The Center hosts an annual gala, A Samaritan Celebration, benefiting the Counseling Assistance Fund. Since 1996, the event has raised more than $1,000,000 to provide counseling to people who otherwise would not be able to afford it.
In 2001, Carole and Ronald Krist donated the building that formerly housed the Krist Law Firm to the Samaritan Center. With an estimated value of five million dollars, this incredible building also included many exquisite furnishings. In January, 2002, the Center relocated to the new building and opened its doors for business as the Carole & Ronald Krist Samaritan Center for Counseling and Education.
From its small beginnings in 1986, the Krist Samaritan Center has grown to become a significant provider of counseling services in the greater Houston area and will continue to have a considerable impact on the field of counseling. |
