Frequently Asked Questions

Click on a question below to reveal the answer.

What kind of tests do you give?

At MindWorks Testing, we give educational, pre-marital, occupational, clinical, personality and IQ psychological testing. For a list of tests we provide, visit our Testing Services page.

Who gives the test?

Our MindWorks Testing licensed, professional counselors administer the tests. Each one is certified to give specialized testing to both children and adults.

How much does the test cost?

The cost varies depending on the test(s) you request. Give us a call and one of our counselors will provide you with the cost and any other testing information you need.

Where will I take my test?

We have testing centers all over Houston. When you call to schedule your appointment, ask which testing center is closest to you.

How long will my test take?

Depending on the test(s) you’re taking, it could take 45 minutes to more than an hour. Some in-depth assessments are segmented over a few days. Ask your counselor or test administrator for a more exact time estimation. It is standard for us to schedule an interview appointment prior to your test to discuss the details of your assessment and any questions you may have.

Should I bring anything to my test?

We will provide all the testing materials, but if you have glasses or hearing aids, be sure to wear them. Also, please bring a list of all of your prescribed and over-the-counter medications.

How long will it take to get my results back?

It depends on the test you take. Some tests and have a turnaround time of two weeks while others are returned within 24 hours. Our counselors will receive your scores, compile them into a comprehensive report, and set up an appointment with you to discuss the results and how you can apply them.

What is psychoeducational assessment/testing?

This term refers to tests that analyze mental processes and abilities that affect educational performance and/or cognitive ability. Through psychoeducational tests, we can determine a student’s academic competency (aptitude for knowledge) and levels of understanding (achieved knowledge). Generally, the results may be used for certain school admissions or to document any disabilities for a school.

Many Texas public schools suggest certain children be tested for gifted and talented programs or for 504 accommodations (special needs). Texas public schools provide this type of testing free of charge. However, if needed, our tests and results can also be submitted to the schools for official records and educational planning.

What should my child and I expect during an educational test?

There are several different types of tests that help us evaluate your child’s aptitude and all of them are noninvasive. Coming into the test, your child should expect the possibility of answering a variety of questions, working on puzzles, drawing, telling stories and playing some games.

Who sees my test results?

At MindWorks Testing, you and your test administrator or counselor will review your results in a private appointment. Please review our Privacy Policy for more information.
