In Support of Krist Samaritan Center
The Cullen Trust for Health Care Makes Substantial Donation to Non-Profit Counseling Center
Krist Samaritan Center announces it has received a $50,000 grant from The Cullen Trust for Health Care.
The donation goes toward the Center’s Counseling Assistance Fund, a fund providing high—quality counseling and mental health services on a sliding fee scale. The Cullen Trust for Health Care has bestowed the center with substantial funds in past years. However, this most recent grant is the largest awarded to the Center from the trust.
More than 600,000 people in the Houston area suffer from mental illness and thousands more seek counseling to work through challenging life situations, such as stress related to job loss, family issues and grief. Unfortunately, in 2011, mental health resources available through Houston’s public sector face significant reduction due to proposed budget cuts at the State level.
The grant from The Cullen Trust for Health Care will help Krist Samaritan Center meet the increased demand for mental health care services in the area. “This award reflects our trustees’ commitment to mental health as a vital component of our community’s health and well-being,” said Beth Robertson, Chair of the Board of Trustees for The Cullen Trust for Health Care.
“We are so very grateful to be chosen for this grant by The Cullen Trust for Health Care,” said Executive Director of Krist Samaritan Center, Dr. Gerald DeSobe. “Their confidence in us is truly reflected by this significant gift and we will work hard to be good stewards of the funds they have entrusted to us.”
