Krist Samaritan Center Names New Director of Community Relations

The Carole and Ronald Krist Samaritan Center for Counseling and Education announces the promotion of Derek Prins, M.A., L.P.C, to Director of Community Relations. Prins has been a clinician for the Krist Samaritan Center since 2004, and will continue his counseling duties upon accepting the director position.

Prins received a Bachelor of Arts degree in organizational communication from the University of New Mexico in 1995, and a Master of Arts in psychology from Houston Baptist University in 2004. As a clinician at the Krist Samaritan Center, Prins counseled individual, marriage, family, child and adolescent clients. His new position as Director of Community Relations will include raising awareness within the community about the Krist Samaritan Center, overseeing marketing efforts and organizing psycho-educational events in the community.

“Derek has become an integral part of our staff and I am so pleased to offer him this promotion,” said Dr. Jerry DeSobe, executive director of the Krist Samaritan Center. “He has already proven his ability to effectively treat the many clients we see at the Center, and I believe this new position will allow him to take on a more prominent role in the success of our organization.”

The Carole and Ronald Krist Samaritan Center for Counseling and Education is a not-for-profit faith-based organization committed to providing affordable counseling services and educational programs to people of all economic backgrounds, as well as training for church and mental health professionals. Founded in 1986, the Center is accredited as a service center and training program by the American Association of Pastoral Counselors and the Samaritan Institute. The Center has served over 30,000 families and has 18 office locations throughout the Houston and Galveston area.
