  Rockin’ the Good Fund
Rockwell Fund Makes Substantial Donation to Counseling and Mental Health Center

The Krist Samaritan Center for Counseling and Education received a generous donation of $60,000 from the Rockwell Fund, Inc. as part of a two-year grant to support the Center’s Counseling Assistance Fund. Based on a sliding-fee scale, the Counseling Assistance Fund provides professional counseling services to children, adults, couples and families in need of guidance and healing.

With Rockwell Fund’s charitable donation, the Krist Samaritan Center will receive much-needed support to provide affordable mental health care to individuals and families in the Houston and Galveston area.

“We truly appreciate the support the Rockwell Fund has given us over the years,” said Dr. Gerald DeSobe, Krist Samaritan Center executive director. “These funds are essential to providing our clients with the quality mental health care and counseling they truly need.”

Rockwell Fund, Inc. began in 1931 as a charitable trust created pursuant to the will of James M. Rockwell, an early Houston lumberman, investor and civic leader. In 1949, the trust was reorganized as a Texas not-for-profit corporation. The Fund distributes approximately five percent of its value to charitable organizations each year. Most of the grantees are located in Houston and within the state of Texas. Grants are made to promote the arts, civic and environmental causes, education, historical preservation, human services and public health.

The Carole and Ronald Krist Samaritan Center for Counseling and Education is a not-for-profit faith-based organization committed to providing affordable counseling services and educational programs to people of all economic backgrounds, as well as training for church and mental health professionals. Founded in 1986, the Center is accredited as a service center and training program by the American Association of Pastoral Counselors and the Samaritan Institute. The Center has served over 30,000 families and has 18 office locations throughout the Houston and Galveston area.
