The partnership with Iglesia de Cristo marks the 21st counseling location opened by The Krist Samaritan Center. The location will offer counseling on Wednesdays, and will be staffed by Ignacio Barcenas, a Krist Samaritan Center licensed professional counselor intern. The church's congregation, as well as the local community, will be able to make an appointment for a counseling session at Iglesia de Cristo by contacting the Krist Samaritan Center.

“Serving with the Krist Samaritan Center and watching lives change is a very humbling experience, and I’m very pleased to offer Spanish counseling services to South Houston” said Barcenas. “The Krist Samaritan Center really does strive to be available to all people and this partnership with Iglesia de Cristo is just another way for us remain accessible.”

A long-time Houstonian, Barcenas also counsels at the San Jose Clinic—the oldest charity clinic in the United States. He holds a master’s degree in counseling and is a minister in the Church of Christ.

The Carole and Ronald Krist Samaritan Center for Counseling and Education is a not-for-profit faith-based organization committed to providing affordable counseling services and educational programs to people of all economic backgrounds, as well as training for church and mental health professionals. Founded in 1986, the Center is accredited as a service center and training program by the American Association of Pastoral Counselors and the Samaritan Institute. The Center has served over 30,000 families and has 18 office locations throughout the Houston and Galveston area.
